"The Moonfish"

"The Moonfish" is a 2D hand-drawn animatic created independently using Procreate.
This short follows the titular Moonfish, as it spends its night seeking to find a single friend in a small island village to pass the nights with.
The theme that came to mind during the story's creation was comparison, as I have seen people both energized and defeated by comparison in the creative spaces I've been a part of, and how I have seen the artists around me grow into themselves when they accept their artistic voice as their own.
This short was made as the final project in an intermediary film production course in 2020. I was the sole creator on this project, and was able to utilize my familiarity with storyboarding, illustration, and character design in ways I don't usually have the opportunity to when filming live action pieces.
Motion Graphics
2022
I animated these motion graphics in 2022 as an introduction to using Adobe After Effects. These projects were made in conversation with each other, using the same palettes as well as the same emphasis on what could be achieved using relatively simple shapes.
The first is a kinetic type project with visuals and text based around a clip from the horror podcast, "The Magnus Archives."
The second is a four-scene project, made to practice creating a limited story arc with simple shapes. It is set to a clip from the song "Hollywood," by Jukebox the Ghost.
